Body Length: (Male) 49–57 cm/19–22 inch, (Female) 58–64 cm /23–25 inch
Wingspan: (Male) 93–105 cm /37–41 inch, (Female) 108–127 cm /43–50 inch
Weight: (Male) 630 grams /22 oz, (Female) 2 kg / 4.4 lb.

Northern Goshawk (Accipeter gentillis) commonly known as Baaz.

It has been declared as State Bird of Punjab videNo. 34/13/Ft.IV-83/6048 dated 15.03.89 and Notification of Govt. of Punjab No. 34/11/2015-FT-5/592880/1 dated: 18.09.2015

Goshawk is the largest member of the genus Accipiter.

The male bird is small and blue-grey in colour above & barred grey below while female is larger than male and slate-grey in colour above and grey below.

The flight is a characteristic “five slow flaps – straight glide”.
